CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Sixteen students at Central High School were recognized at the LCSD1 Board of Trustees meeting Monday night following a recent state tournament. Multiple players on the school’s tennis team earned coveted state champion titles, while others finished their bracket placements in second or third place.

The Central High athletes, along with other high schoolers around the state, participated in the state tennis tournament Sept. 26–28 in Gillette, per the Wyoming High School Activities Association. Bracket results can be viewed here.

“What you’re looking at are students who are leaders in our building,” Central High Principal Karen Delbridge said. “They have grit. They have tenacity. They know how to work hard when they know something doesn’t feel good to them. They want to be the best, and they showed it out there on the tennis court.”

Garrett Seamans is the tennis coach at Central High. He said his students are going to be successful no matter what they go on to do. He thanked volunteer coaches and parents for their continued support of the school’s tennis program.

“I’m just really proud of all the players and all their hard work,” Seamans said. “Hopefully we finish off the year strong.”
