Leadership and excellence: Deijah Ard earns LCSD1 weekly honor

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — McCormick Junior High student Deijah Ard has been named Laramie County School District 1’s Student of the Week for the week of Jan. 27. The eighth grader earned the honor for her academic success, leadership and positive impact on her school community.

Ard excels in her studies, maintaining high grades in all honors core classes. She also leads as a member of McCormick’s Warrior 2 Warrior school culture program and serves on the Student Advisory Committee, helping guide decisions at the school, according to a press release by the district.

In addition to her academic achievements, Ard is a skilled athlete. She plays on a travel volleyball team and participates in track and field. Principal Tina Troudt praised Ard’s character, saying, “She uses her considerable intelligence and character to better the world around her every day.”

Ard selected her Spanish teacher, Janet Stewart, as her favorite teacher. She highlighted Stewart’s patience and ability to create a welcoming environment for students learning a new language.

Ard’s parents, Deborah and Nikolas Cessna, and her school community continue to celebrate her as a role model for other students. Her commitment to excellence and kindness makes her a standout among her peers.
