CHEYENNE, Wyo. — East High School senior Abigail Petri has been named Laramie County School District 1’s Student of the Week for Feb. 3. She earned the recognition for her academic excellence, leadership and dedication to her school community.
Petri maintains a GPA above 4.0 while taking multiple International Baccalaureate courses. She challenges herself academically and encourages her peers to do the same.
Beyond the classroom, Petri actively participates in the National Honor Society and East High’s Speech and Debate team. She has placed in final rounds at competitions and qualified for the National Tournament of Champions.
Petri’s talents extend to music as well. She sings with the East High Singers and has earned spots in the All-State and Northwest Honor Choirs for all four years of high school.
After graduation, Petri plans to attend the University of Wyoming. She will study psychology and enroll in the Honors College.
She selected Mason Magagna as her favorite teacher, crediting him with inspiring her love for the Spanish language.
“Mr. Magagna has had such a big impact on me, and he helped me find my love and passion for learning the Spanish language,” Petri stated.
Her parents, Jennifer and Michael Petri, along with her school community, are celebrating her accomplishments and dedication to learning.
