The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall of approximately 5.7 million water bottles marketed to children under the Contigo brand.

Around 157,000 bottles sold in Canada and 28,000 sold in Mexico are also included in the recall.

According to the CPSC, the bottle’s clear silicone spout can detach, causing a choking hazard to children.

The CPSC says Contigo has received a total of 427 reports of the spout detaching, and some 27 found in children’s mouths.

The bottles were sold at Costco, Walmart, Target and other retailers including online from April 2018 to February 7, 2020. They retailed between $9 and $24.

To participate in the recall, contact Contigo toll-free at 888-262-0622 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or online at www.gocontigo.com/recall or www.gocontigo.com and click on Recalls at the bottom of the page for more information.
