Jessie Lee Newport, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away in Casper, Wyoming on November 28, 2019. He was born on July 10, 1972, his parents were Jack and Nancy Wales (Stoval).
Jessie attended Kelly Walsh High School and graduated in 1991. In his younger years, Jessie worked on the oil rigs. He met the love of his life, Melissa McGehee and they were married on June 29, 1996. Jessie and Melissa have 4 beautiful girls together, Shantell, Shaylynn, Saundra, and Sierra. Jessie loved his girls and could not pass through the kitchen without dancing with one of them. Spending time together as a family was one of Jessie’s favorite joys, whether it be a road trip to Salt Lake City, spending the day hiking in the mountains, or especially attending church where he could show off his beautiful family. Working on the oil rigs was taking time away from Jessie and his family, so he became a plumber’s apprentice so he could be close to home.
Jessie loved to go hunting in the winter and go fishing in the summer, however if one of his daughters asked him to stay home, he would drop everything to spend time with them. One time he even took Melissa’s suburban hunting and instead of strapping the deer to the roof, he just put it in the back of the car, much to Melissa’s dismay. Needless to say, the next time he took the suburban hunting, he brought a tarp!
Jessie is survived by his loving wife, Melissa Newport; 4 daughters Shantell White and her husband Jacob, Shaylynn Newport and her fiancé Michael, Saundra Newport, and Sierra Newport. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Luke and Olivia White, and one on the way for Saundra.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a grandbaby Newport.
Funeral services will be held at Bustard and Jacoby Funeral Home on Friday, December 6, 2019 at 1:00PM. A visitation will take place on Thursday, December 5, 2019 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM.
Victor Dolajak Jr., or known to many as “V.D.”, died Thursday November 28th at Central Wyo Hospice after fighting a short battle with cancer. He was born to Victor & Emma (Roller) Dolajak in Dickinson, ND July 9th 1946.
He married Darlene Tysver Nov 28th, 1967 and together they had 3 children, Little Victor and Shawn, both deceased, Tina (Scott) Marcus of Casper. He had 3 grandchildren, Katie and Evan Dolajak and Danyl Marcus all of Casper.
They later divorced and he was married again to Eslyn Cooper May 24, 1995 in Nevada, they later moved back to Casper.
The marriage brought 4 step-children, Kass (Kari) Cornella of Douglas, WY, Nicole Dennison of Buffalo, SD, Valeria Johnson and Lorena Cornella both of Casper along with 12 grandchildren.
Vic worked as a Diesel Mechanic most of his life, retiring from Rissler McMurry.
Vic had many hobbies which included building anything and everything out of wood along with model airplanes. He also raced a mini Mod Lite race car for a season at Glenrock Motor Speedway.
As per Vic’s wishes there will be no service, however he wanted a Celebration of Life at Frosty’s Bar & Grill, 520 S. Center. This will be held Saturday December 7th at 1:00 pm
Louis Lujan, born January 18, 1953 in LaSalle, Colorado, passed away on November 29, 2019 at Central Wyoming Hospice in Casper, Wyoming. Louis is survived by his wife, Sandra Bustamante Lujan; son, Eddie (Nancy) of Riverside, California, daughters, Angela Lujan (Martin Barajas) of Casper, Wyoming and Gina Lujan of Las Vegas, Nevada; 13 grandchildren, and 1great grandchild; brothers, Johnny Lujan (Susan), Kenny Lujan, and Danny Lujan (Marcella); sisters, Donna Lujan, Elizabeth Padilla (Gilbert), Gloria Bohlen (Rick), and Mary Jane Tufveson (John); numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and beloved pet companion, Petra
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel and Joseph Lujan, brothers, Frankie, Benny and Jerry Lujan, and sister, Ruthie Lujan.
Louis graduated from Santa Barbara Business College as an electrician. He was a Christian with a passion for restoring vintage vehicles. He loved music and played several instruments. He was a karaoke enthusiast who enjoyed singing with family and friends. Louis also enjoyed fishing and being outdoors, and artistry. He returned to Casper in 2003 after several years living in California.
A Celebration of Life and Potluck Dinner will be held at the Can Do Construction, 927 Connie, Mills, Wyoming on Sunday, December 8, 2019, 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Guests are encouraged to wear a fedora or hat in honor of Louis.
Sarah Jean (Jeanie) Tanner, 79, of Riverton, Wyoming passed away on November 25, 2019 at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming. At the time of her death she was surrounded by her loving family, including Zoey Steele, the newest addition to the family at 18 months of age.
Jeanie was born March 30, 1940 to Willard (Bill) Tanner and his wife, Roma Claudine (Reed) Tanner. At the time of her birth her father worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad. Consequently, she spent her early life living in a converted railroad car along with her parents and 3 brothers until the family moved to Newcastle where her father was employed by the Sioux Refinery.
While in high school her future husband returned from the Navy and because of a common love for dancing it didn’t take long for them to become involved and to enter into a long, loving relationship. On May 23, 1957 she married Francis H. (Frank) Tanner (no known relation) in Rapid City, South Dakota and spent the next 62 years dancing with that same partner.
The couple attended Black Hills State College and then moved to Buffalo, Wyoming where Frank taught for several years. It was during that period that the couple was blessed with the arrival of two of their three children, Diana Lynn and Michael Reed. The couple left Buffalo in 1968 to attend graduate school at the University of Wyoming. During that period a third blessing, Mark Allen, arrived to share the cramped quarters of student housing.
Following graduation, Frank was employed by the University so the couple remained in Laramie until they moved to Riverton with the Wyoming Commission on Aging in 1982. Shortly after their arrival in Riverton, Jeanie became involved with the local genealogy group and so spent most of the rest of her life tracing both sides of the Tanner family. However, in spite of all the work she did trying to connect the two sides of the family she was never able to find a common ancestor even after walking countless cemeteries and courthouses dating all the way back to the pre-Revolution War period. In addition to dancing and genealogy she loved ATVing, camping, fishing, quilting and especially bossing her loving family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Diana Cooper of Crystal River, Florida and one son, Mark Tanner and his wife Sarah of Florence, Massachusetts, granddaughters, Kaylan Steele and her husband Bryan, Jerin, Emma and Caroline, three great-grandchildren, Sophia, Michael and Zoey Steele, one brother, Russel and his wife Dixie, one sister, Bonnie Sisneros and her husband Manuel and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws but no known outlaws despite Frank’s claim to the contrary. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Francis Duane (Jack) and Merril (Pete) and her son Michael.
No services are planned at this time. Cremation has taken place and the ashes will be taken to the Tanner family plot in the Cold Springs Historical Cemetery east of Pringle, SD at a later date. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
