Pastor Thomas Allen Powers: January 22, 1961 – February 28, 2023

Pastor Thomas Allen Powers, 62, of Cheyenne, died on February 28, 2023 in Cheyenne.
He was born on January 22, 1961 in Huntington Park, California.

Tom was a passionate and loving pastor serving most recently at Calvary Chapel of Cheyenne. He loved pastoral counseling, helping people in need, teaching God’s word, sharing the gospel, and strengthening Christian believers. Tom’s previous employment included restaurant management for several different companies, including Arby’s, Taco Bell, and Taco John’s here in Cheyenne.

He loved music, playing the guitar, interactive video gaming and many other hobbies. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father, son, and brother who loved spending time with his family.

Tom is survived by his loving wife, Emily,and his precious daughter, Bailey, as well as, his mother, Boots, three sisters, Mona, Beverly, and Cindy, and many other dearly loved friends and extended family.
Tom was preceded in death by his father, Ruben Vargas, step-father Bill Powers, and grandparents, Ben and Ramona Jaramillo.

Services will be Friday, 1:00 p.m., at Calvary Chapel of Cheyenne.

Charla Jeanene Brown

Charla Jeanene Brown: May 8, 1947 – March 6, 2023

Charla Jeanene (Beck) Brown, 75, resident of Cheyenne since 1974, passed away March 6, 2023 in Cheyenne.

Charla was born May 8, 1947 in Ames, Iowa to Cecil and Fern Beck. Charla attended South High School in Denver, Colorado, Emmaus Bible School in Oak Park, Illinois, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 1971 from the University of Northern Colorado.

Charla served the Cheyenne community as a dedicated nurse at DePaul Hospital and also as a home health care nurse before her retirement. Charla was an avid reader, loved crafts, and was dedicated to her Christian faith. Charla had immense love for her family and was a courageous example in the face of adversity.

Charla is survived by her children, Ryne Brown of Portland OR and Sharine (Chris) Carver of Renton, WA; grandchild, Sam Carver; sisters Charlee Walton, Luanne Beck, and Paula Beck. She is survived by nieces, nephew, great-nephew and great-niece.

Gregory S Grissom

Gregory S Grissom: May 27, 1947 – March 5, 2023

Gregory (Papa Greg) Grissom, 75, of Cheyenne, passed at Davis Hospice Center on March 5, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.

Gregory was born on May 27, 1947 in Los Angeles, California to Sam Grissom and Vivian Douglas. Gregory was a retired computer tech at AT&T and security guard at the Frontier Mall.

Gregory is survived by his wife of 45 years and many loving family members. Gregory was preceded in death by both of his parents, 3 brothers and a sister.


Manuel G. Estorga

Manuel G. Estorga: March 18, 1927 – March 4, 2023

Manuel G Estorga, 95, of Cheyenne passed away on March 4th at Polaris Healthcare. He was born on March 18th, 1927 in Fabens, TX. He lived most of his life in Cheyenne and worked for Dinneens for many years. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and a member of the church choir and a volunteer at St. Joseph’s Food Pantry.

He was preceded in death by his wife Aurora V Estorga of 67 years, two sons, a daughter, a grandson, his parents and two brothers.

He is survived by three sons, nine grandkids and numerous great grandkids.

Visitation has been scheduled for Thursday, March 9th from 4pm – 6pm.  Vigil for the Deceased will follow the visitation at Schrader Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 10th at 1:30pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.   Interment is scheduled at Olivet Cemetery following the service. There will be a Reception at St. Joseph’s Parish Hall immediately following the interment.
