Michael Brumbaugh

Michael Brumbaugh: 1967 – 2023

Mike Brumbaugh, 56, of Cheyenne passed at home December 28, surrounded by family.

He was born March 14, 1967, in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Marvin and Janet Brumbaugh. Mike was a friend, a husband, a father and a grandfather. He was a camper, adventurer and gamer.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy; daughter, Tristen; son, Vladimir; grandson, Zinho; father, Marvin; brother, Matt; sister, Jennifer; and sister, Jessica; along with a plethora of other extended family members. Mike was preceded in death by his loving mom, Janet.

He was, is, and always will be with us in the best parts of us.


Doris Elizabeth Buchanan

Doris Elizabeth Buchanan: 1932 – 2023

Doris Elizabeth Buchanan, 91, of Cheyenne, died on December 24, 2023 in Cheyenne.

She was born on May 29, 1932 in Callaway, Nebraska.

Doris was a homemaker and caretaker for several family members, as well as friends.

Her interests included stamp collecting, coin collecting, and plate collecting, which was a love she did not outgrow. Foremost, however, was her love of sharing a cup of coffee with friends.

Doris is survived by her three children: Linda Krix, Thomas Buchanan (Barbara), and Nancy Miller (Jim); six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three nephews; and one niece.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Booker and Hazel Aebig-Booker; her husband, Forest Buchanan; a sister, Lois Williams; a brother, Lawrence Eugene (Gene) Booker; a son-in-law, Dieter Krix; and a brother-in-law, Lloyd Buchanan.


Paul D. Butler

Paul D. Butler: 1951 – 2023

Paul D. Butler took his last breath at age 72, December 23, 2023, in his home with his best friend by his side.

Paul was born October 6, 1951, to Margie Lou (Deselms) and Nigel M. Butler. He was the oldest of the three Butler boys. He was raised in Burns, Wyoming and graduated from Burns High School. Paul went on to graduate from the University of Wyoming in 1977, then married Teresa (Gladson) in 1982. He has two daughters and five grandchildren that he loved unconditionally and was somehow always right there when they needed him.

Paul’s passion was beefalo, where he made extremely large strides in the industry and opened many doors for the future generations. He had the first non-AI’ed highbred in the industry and was still actively researching and bettering the beefalo industry in his final weeks. He lived his life much differently than most, but he lived every day to the fullest and without any reservations and his way. Paul’s humor was unique and contagious, he was kind, giving and humble and perhaps a little stubborn. He wanted nothing more than his family and friends to always enjoy themselves.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Nigel and Margie Butler; son-in-law, SSGT. Brian M. Long; as well as many other beautiful souls we miss every day. He is survived by his brothers, Ron (Kris) and their family; Hal (Leigh) and their family; daughters, Brenda Long and Heather (Beau) Anderson; and his grandchildren: Sydney, Shelby, and Sage Long, Liam and Leila Anderson; and his best friend who he always loved, Teresa Butler.

Cremation has taken place and per his wishes there will not be any formal services. Memorial donations may be made to Davis Hospice Center 6000 Sycamore Rd. Cheyenne, WY 82001 on his behalf.


Rodrick Baird Janney

Rodrick Baird Janney: 1973 – 2023

Rodrick B. Janney, 84, of Cheyenne, passed at Davis Hospice surrounded by his loving family on the morning of December 25, 2023.

He was born on November 20, 1939, in Sheridan, Wyoming to J. Baird and Jeanette Janney. He married Connie Wilson on September 1, 1973.

Rod graduated from Sheridan High School in 1957. He served in the U.S. Army at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri in 1958. Rod graduated from the University of Denver in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and the University of Wyoming in 1986 with a Master’s in Public Administration.

His work career was extensive, starting with Arthur Andersen & Co. as a Public Accountant in San Francisco, California from 1963 to 1966; continuing with the U.S. State Department, Agency for International Development, Saigon, Vietnam from 1966 to 1968; the University of Wyoming Financial Office in 1969; the State of Wyoming Governor’s Planning Committee, Law Enforcement Assistance Administration Program as Deputy Administrator from 1970 to 1975; the State of Wyoming Department of Administration and Fiscal Control, Budget Division as a Budget Analyst from 1975 to 1979 and as the Budget Administrator from 1979 to 1984; the University of Wyoming as the Deputy Vice President of Finance from 1984 to 1985; Laramie County Community College as the Dean of Business Services from 1985 to 1997; and the Wyoming National Guard as the Deputy Military Administrator from 1997 to 2002.

Rod also served on the State of Wyoming Retirement Board, the United Medical Center Board, and the Laramie County Community College Building Authority.

He is survived by his wife, Connie; son, Paul (Samantha) Janney and daughter Jennifer Janney; grandchildren, Daisy and Caleb Janney; sisters, Lynn (Randy) Reece and Edie (Larry Biggio) Liotis; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Lorraine Quarberg, Tim and Lori Wilson, Mary Cordova, Jim Cordova, Karen Wilson, Tim and Therese Hupp, Tom and Ronda Wilson, Brian and Virginia Harris, and Robert Wilson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rod was preceded in death by his parents, J. Baird and Jeanette Janney; in-laws, Gene and Frances Wilson; and brothers-in-law DeLoyd Quarberg and Dan Wilson.

Services are scheduled for Friday, June 28, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral.


Adam Joseph Rose: 1979 – 2023

Adam Joseph Rose passed on Monday, December 25. He is survived by his daughter, Destinee Carter; his mother, Janet Rose (Craig Allan); his brother, Nick Casey; his sister, Amber McKeithen; and several aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Sam and Helen Pauli.


John Velvick

John Velvick: 1962 – 2023

John Glen Velvick, 61, a loving father and talented wood floor craftsman, passed away on Dec. 19, 2023.

Born April 7, 1962 in Kemmerer, Wyoming, John’s love for family and work brought him immense joy. His career as a master wood flooring expert was marked with extreme talent and dedication. His precision and finesse showcased his artistry and commitment to his craft. John also found solace in long drives, exploring the back roads and enjoying the mountain views.

John was a loving son, brother and father and leaves behind a loving family and numerous friends. He is survived by his beloved son, Johnny Velvick; his step-children: Christen Grant, Jesse Cornett, Brandy Velvick; and six grandchildren.

He also leaves behind his sisters: Darla Pepper (Kent), Shelli Olson (Mark), Summer Grow (Brian); his uncle, Gary Griff (Alice); niece, April Pepper; and other extended family.

He will be dearly missed.


Elsie Marie Wisroth

Elsie Marie Wisroth: 1930 – 2023

Elsie Marie Wisroth, of Burns, passed away on December 28, 2023 in her home at the age of 93.  She was born on January 22, 1930.

Elsie was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Burns where she was baptized and confirmed.  She was married on June 3, 1950 to Robert W. Wisroth for 65 years.

Elsie was active in her church having taught Vacation Bible School and Sunday school. She was active with the Ladies Aide and helped maintain the church.  She was a talented seamstress quilting baby quilts for each baptized infant and donated hundreds of quilts for Lutheran World Relief.  She was known for her beautiful gardens.  She worked side by side with her husband on their farm and ranch along with raising thousands of chickens and many holstein calves.  She and her husband fostered many young children. In their retirement, they built their dream Geodesic Dome home where they lived 33 years.

Elsie is survived by her brother, John Harer of Burns; daughter, Diann Kleeman; son, Lee Wisroth (Rachel); daughter, Leann Hartman (Phillip); and Rosann Tierney (Robert).  Elsie is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.

A funeral service with be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Burns, Wyoming at 11:00 a.m.

Committal service to follow at the Burns Lutheran Church cemetery.

A light luncheon including chocolate ice cream will be served following the committal service in the basement of Immanuel Lutheran church.
