Phyllis I Cohea: 1936 – 2024

Phyllis Irene Knapp Cohea, 87 of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away February 26, 2024, in her home in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

She was born September 22, 1936, to Bernard Eugene Knapp and Clara Elizabeth (Hodge) Knapp at her grandparents’ home Northeast of McDonald, Kansas.

Phyllis attended school in her early years at the Knapp School. In 1948, she moved to Grover, Colorado where she finished her education.

She married Francis Eugene Cohea on December 26, 1956, in Greeley, Colorado. They then moved to California where Gene served in the Airforce.

She was loving, industrious, and energetic. She worked from home in Greeley, Colorado for several years, babysitting and light industrial machine jobs. She also kept all the records for Cohea TV and Appliance in Carlisle, Iowa. After moving to Cheyenne, she worked at Sam’s Club for several years as the demonstration manager. All while raising a family of three with the love and care she knew.

She is survived by her son and daughter, Patrick Cohea of Cheyenne and Sarhara C. Powell of Des Moines, Iowa; sister, Jean Hauer; two grandchildren, Brandon Powell and Kelsey (Sam) Richeson; and one granddaughter, Eleanor.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Gary Knapp; and daughter, Cindy Cohea Hood.

She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.

She will have a private family interment at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.


Hank W. Kaphengst

Hank W. Kaphengst: 1934 – 2024

In loving memory of Hank W. Kaphengst, a devoted husband, father, and esteemed member of the Cheyenne community. Hank was born in Little Falls, Minnesota, in 1934 and sadly passed away on February 27, 2024, in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Hank led a fulfilling life as a Property Manager, utilizing his Bachelor’s Degree to excel in his career. Known for his sharp wit and humor, he had a knack for making people laugh and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. His charismatic and easy-going nature endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

One of Hank’s greatest joys in life was traveling with his beloved wife, Madeline. Together, they explored the world and created cherished memories that will live on forever.

Hank will be deeply missed by his surviving family: his son, Daniel; daughters, Lori and Karla; as well as a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Madeline, who preceded him in death.

Hank’s legacy of kindness, humor, and generosity will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him. May he rest in peace knowing he was loved by many and left an indelible mark on all who crossed his path.


Dawn Pontillo

Dawn Pontillo: 1962 – 2024

Dawn Pontillo, a beloved bartender known for her warm and caring personality, passed away in Cheyenne, Wyoming on February 11 2024. Dawn was born in Kremmling, Colorado, on April 25, 1962. She graduated from high school in Fort Collins, Colorado, and went on to touch the lives of many through her profession.

In addition to her successful career, Dawn was a remarkable individual who found joy in simple pleasures. She had a talent for remembering birthdays and significant dates, making everyone around her feel special and loved. Her hobbies included riding motorcycles and indulging in sewing and crafting projects.

Dawn will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her sister, Toni Baker; parents, Barbara and Roy; as well as Daniel Kaphengst.

Although she is no longer with us, Dawn’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her.

May she rest in peace.
