Dulce Whittaker: 1936 – 2024
Cheyenne mourns the loss of a beloved member of its community, Dulce Whittaker, who passed away on March 14. Dulce was born in Palo Alto, California, on May 6, 1936, to Chauncey and Hildegarde Roberts. She was a stroke survivor for 19 years.
Dulce was a vibrant soul known for her outgoing nature and great sense of humor. Her career as an art gallery owner in Cheyenne, and her involvement in the business sorority Beta Sigma Phi showcased her dedication and passion. She took pride in running a successful business, creating art pieces, and working towards a hot air balloon pilot’s license – accomplishments that will be remembered with admiration.
In her leisure time, Dulce found joy in various activities. She adored her cats, Noir and Prince, showering them with love and attention. Dulce was a participant at Stroke Camp where she eagerly engaged in the theme night parties, always dressing up exquisitely. Her hobbies included swimming, gardening with her green thumb, hosting summer backyard parties, and indulging in reading – activities that brought immense fulfillment to her life.
Dulce’s memory will be cherished by her surviving family: brother, James Q. Roberts (Elizabeth); daughter, Robin Bunch (Gordon Branch); son, William Bunch (Kim); daughter, Elaine Bryant (Jerry); grandchildren: Misty, Curtis, Kyle, Cody; and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father, Chauncey Roberts; mother, Hildegarde Roberts; and son, Dale Bunch.
To those who knew her well, Dulce will always be remembered for her vivacious spirit and unwavering determination. Her legacy of resilience and zest for life will continue to inspire many.
