James Curtis Gear: 1947 – 2024
Jim Gear, 77, of Cheyenne, passed at Swedish Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on April 10, 1947, in Ketchikan, Alaska to Ida and Aubrey Gear.
Jim was enrolled in the Navy at age 17 and served two tours during Vietnam. Upon his return to Cheyenne, he joined the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union where he worked as a Training Coordinator, Apprenticeship Coordinator, and Business Manager for Local 192. During this time, he was appointed by three Wyoming Governors to serve on State Council on Vocational Education and the Wyoming Workforce Council. Jim poured his heart into the lives of his family and friends, through which he was able to show his love through acts of service. In his free time Jim loved to swim, fish, and play cribbage.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Gear; children, Catherine and Joe Gear; and brother, Tom Gear.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Ida and Aubrey Gear; sisters, Debbie Valdez and Susan Ahks.
Service to be held at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes on Friday, May 10, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a celebration of life at the American Legion.
Dawn Marie Travis: 1969 – 2024
Dawn Marie Travis (Wonder Woman) passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday April 30, 2024, surrounded by her husband, Jim and faithful fur baby, Trixie.
I won’t list all her many accomplishments in life here, but those of you who knew her “know”.
Dawn was born to Dave and Carol Black in Boise, Idaho on October 15, 1969. To this union were born: Barbara (Trink), Dave, Brad, Monica and Dawn, who was the baby.
Dawn is survived by her husband, Jim; fur baby, Trixie of Cheyenne; sons: Kenny of Alabama, Colton of Minnesota, Corey of Cheyenne; grandchildren,: Logan, Lainie, McKenna, and Lawson; dad, Dave of Texas; brothers, Dave of Cheyenne, Brad of Texas; sister, Monica of Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Carol; and her sister, Trink.
God bless her, she is the toughest person I have ever known. Rest easy in heaven.
There will be no formal services held at this time.
