Rebecca P. Freeman

Rebecca P. Freeman: 1958 – 2024

Rebecca “Becky” Freeman (66), of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2024, in her
home. Becky was born on March 28, 1958, in Brookings, South Dakota, to Bernadette (Gratz) and Merle Peterson. She spent her early years on a lively farm outside Estelline. Becky graduated from high school in 1976 and earned her Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from South Dakota University, embarking on a fulfilling career in education.

Becky discovered her passion for young minds in Fort Bridger, Wyoming, where she also met her husband, Dennis Freeman. They married on July 11, 1987, and enjoyed 37 years of devoted partnership. They spent most of their lives in Green River, Wyoming as educators who were active in the community. In 1988, their son Alexander was born, followed by their daughter Erin in 1993.

Despite having two children of her own, Becky nurtured countless others as if they were her own—adopting nephews, nieces, her children’s friends and spouses, every variety of dogs, and thousands of students whom she loved unconditionally. Known for her infectious joy and lighthearted spirit, Becky brightened every room she entered with puns, snorts, parodies, and an unwavering zest for life. Her faith remained a cornerstone throughout her life, even in her final days. For all who knew her, Becky’s presence was a bright light. Becky dedicated much of her career to Sweetwater County District #2, with Truman Elementary holding a special place in her heart. Her proudest accomplishment came on Valentine’s Day in 2018, when she became a grandmother to Henry, with whom she shared an enduring bond.

Preceded in death by her brothers, Robert and Bohn Peterson; her sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Flowers; and her parents. Becky is survived by her beloved husband, Dennis Freeman; her children, Alexander and Sylvia Freeman, and Erin and Christopher Lindt; her cherished grandson, Henry Freeman; and her sisters, Bonnie Fjerestad and Barb Bullock.

William B. Myrick: 1928 – 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of William B. Myrick (Bill/Sweet William), a loving husband, father, grandfather, papa, and friend. Bill left us peacefully on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at age 95. Born to Homer and Alice Myrick on November 9, 1928, in Grant, Michigan, his life was a testament to his devotion— to his family, his career, and the many friends he made along the way.

Bill is survived by his three children: Lyn Myrick (Jayne), Brenda Yasulevicz, and Bret Myrick, all of Cheyenne, Wyoming; three grandchildren: Joci Lawson (Garrett) and Jaela Cicarelli (Jed), both of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Brandon Myrick of Fort Collins, Colorado; five great-grandchildren: Gavin, Avery, Audry, Libby, and Lucy, all of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Myrick; his parents; and many family and friends.

Bill proudly served 20 years in the United States Air Force, a career that took him across the globe while embodying the values of discipline and hard work. His stories of travel and experiences were always a source of entertainment and joy for those around him. Despite the demands of his military career, Bill was a devoted family man and a pillar of strength for his family, always ensuring they felt loved, supported, and proud.

During his time in the Air Force, Bill developed his skills as a computer programmer, a skill he later applied in a civilian capacity for Cheyenne Federal Savings and Loan and the City of Cheyenne, where he eventually retired from his 14-year tenure. Additionally, he owned and operated a successful data processing business, selling computers and providing programming services to various companies. Bill took great pride in his career and all he accomplished.

Known for his sense of humor, infectious smile, and warm personality, Bill had a way of making everyone he met feel special. He had an unparalleled ability to brighten any room and was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was the most easy-going and hard-working man you’d ever meet, and the joyful tunes he whistled created memories that will stay forever in our hearts.

In later years, Bill found great joy in tending to his yard. When it was “too damn cold to go outside,” he turned to puzzles, a pastime that reflected his thoughtful and dedicated nature. Bill also thoroughly enjoyed Westerns, often spending his evenings in the calm and familiar moments they provided. When a nurse once asked him how he envisioned the end of his life, he replied that he wanted to pass peacefully with a Western playing on the television—and that’s exactly what happened.

As we say goodbye to our beloved father, grandfather, papa, and friend, we find comfort in the shared memories and the love he gave us. His life was a blessing, and his memory is a treasure. Loved beyond words and missed beyond measure, we are deeply grateful for our time with him.

No funeral or memorial services will take place to honor Bill’s wishes. The family attended the interment with Military Honors on Friday, July 12, 2024.
