Mildred Badgley

Mildred Badgley: 1929 – 2024

Mildred Irene (Hobbs) Badgley, 94, passed away in Cheyenne, Wyoming, August 20, 2024 surrounded by family. She was born November 30, 1929 in Cheyenne to the late Buck and Mary Hobbs. She was married to Neal Badgley on August 5, 1950 in Pine Bluffs, Wyoming. She was preceded in death by her husband, Neal.

Mildred is survived by her sister, Norma Jean Fogg of Cheyenne; daughter, Caroline Poelma and husband, Mike of Carpenter; son, Kenneth Badgley and wife, Brenda of Cheyenne; five grandchildren: Kendall (Rebecca) Badgley, Kyle (Ashley) Badgley, Patrick (Stephanie) Poelma of Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania, Pamela Downing, Eric Poelma (Jessica Pastoriza); an adopted grandson, Jonathan Downing; eight great-grandchildren and four nieces.

In the early years, Mildred attended Egbert public schools. She worked for Farmer’s State Bank in Pine Bluffs, Wyoming for almost 50 years. Mildred was an active member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Pine Bluffs for decades, serving as a member of the CCW and helping with the yearly Fall Dinner, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, and welcoming countless new priests to the community. She also served as a Pine Bluffs Municipal Election Judge for years. Her final years were spent at Aspen Wind assisted living facility where she made countless friends with the residents and staff.

Sunday dinners are fond memories of her legendary homemade fried chicken, chocolate cake, chocolate torte, horseradish, spicy salsa, and chocolate chip cookies. Every Christmas she would spend hours making holiday cookies and candies for her friends and family. Long after she retired, Farmer’s State Bank employees, priests and church members would look forward to her chocolate chip cookies on special occasions. She was also an avid bowler and enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren participate in softball and other sports. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. 

At Mildred’s request, a vigil with Rosary will take place Sunday, August 25 at 6 p.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church in Pine Bluffs with graveside service on Tuesday, August 27 at 11 a.m. at the Pine Bluffs Cemetery. A reception will follow the graveside services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter.


Arlene Delores Borgerson: 1962 – 2024

Arlene Delores Borgerson, lovingly known as Dee, touched the lives of many with her warm nurturing spirit. She passed away in her hometown of Cheyenne, Wyoming, on August 3, 2024

Dee was born on April 5, 1962, to Yvonne and Art Wilson in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She grew up alongside her sister, Valerie Kormick. Dee’s upbringing instilled in her the values of love, compassion, and kindness, that she carried throughout her life.

In her career, Dee worked in cosmetology, where her creativity and attention to detail shone brightly. Additionally, she devoted herself to being a homemaker, creating a loving environment for her family.

Dee’s greatest joy came from being a mother. She was a loving and devoted mother to her children: Fallon, Matthew, and Christopher. Her children were her pride and joy, and she poured her heart into raising them with love and care.

Dee loved being a grandmother to Noah, Elliana, and Shyla. She cherished the time spent with her grandchildren, creating precious memories that will be treasured for generations to come.

Dee’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of her family and friends. Her legacy of love, kindness, and strength will live on through those who were fortunate enough to have known her.

As we mourn the loss of Arlene Delores Borgerson, let us remember her for the love she shared, the lives she touched, and the legacy of warmth and compassion she leaves behind. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing she was loved beyond measure.

Joshua Anthony DuBois (JD): 1972 – 2024

Joshua Anthony DuBois, known affectionately as JD, was born on March 14, 1972, in Jackson, California. After a life full of adventures and enriching experiences, he passed away on August 13, 2024 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. His spirited journey was marked by boundless energy and an unwavering love for exploration that captured the hearts of everyone who knew him.

JD was a man whose adventurous spirit was contagious. He had a remarkable ability to surprise those around him, often showing up out of nowhere and inviting family and friends to embark on spontaneous hiking trips. These moments were not just outings; they were celebrations of life, filled with laughter and awe at the breathtaking sights that the world had to offer. Loving JD was effortless due to his vibrant personality, which radiated warmth and enthusiasm for every experience life presented.

His mannerisms were characterized by a genuine respect for others, an innate politeness, and a courage that even the most daunting challenges could not dull. JD approached life as if it were a captivating art form, intertwining his passions for art and music into everything he did. He was not only adventurous but also goofy and fun-loving, managing to bring laughter into the lives of those around him. To his family, he was the embodiment of love and support—an amazing husband, devoted father, cherished partner, and best friend.

JD was proud of his journey towards understanding mental health, acknowledging the importance of recognizing one’s struggles and embracing change. His realization of the need for a different approach to life and choices was a testament to his introspective nature. He faced his vulnerabilities with bravery, knowing that while uncomfortable, these experiences ultimately led to growth and understanding. This journey not only enriched his life but served as inspiration to those he loved.

A loving husband to Jessica Johnson DuBois, he shared a profound bond with her, built on trust, laughter, and mutual respect. JD was the proud father of Ohana, Redemption, Destiny, Dimitri, Dakota, Xavier, and Laticia, each a part of his heart. Their lives were painted with colors of adventure, creativity, and love, and he held an unwavering commitment to nurturing their dreams and aspirations.

He is survived by his mother, Marcella Rush; and his brother, Nathan Rush; who carry forward his legacy of kindness and courage. JD will also be remembered fondly by his departed brothers, Christopher and Jeric Rush, as well as his aunt, Joyce Garcia, uncle, Fremin Baca, and beloved nana, Libbey Baker, all of whom he cherished deeply.

JD’s life will be celebrated on August 23, 2024, at Restoration Fellowship Church in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Viewing will start at 10 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. followed by a gathering at the Cheyenne Kiwanis Community House at 1:00 PM, where memories can be shared and his spirit honored.

Though he has departed this life, JD leaves behind a profound impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His adventurous spirit, compassionate heart, and genuine dedication to living life to the fullest will continue to resonate in the stories shared by his family and friends. In honoring Joshua Anthony DuBois, we not only mourn the loss of a remarkable man but celebrate the joy he brought into our lives.


Brian Frederick Pippin: 1980 – 2024

With heavy hearts, we share the news of the passing of Brian Frederick Pippin, who departed this world on August 15, 2024, in Denver, Colorado, at the age of 44. Born on June 4, 1980, in Montclair, New Jersey, Brian’s life was a beautiful tapestry of love, adventure, and bravery.

Brian served four years as an Indirect Fire Infantryman in the United States Army, where he made significant sacrifices and earned the Purple Heart while deployed with the 2nd Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. His commitment to serving his country speaks volumes about his courage and strength.

Brian found joy in the great outdoors. He loved nothing more than escaping into the woods, where he would indulge his passions for hunting, fishing, camping, and simply savoring moments away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The tranquil beauty of nature brought him peace, and he cherished each moment spent amongst the trees and streams.

Brian’s spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him deeply. He is survived by his beloved spouse, Brianne Thoen; his mother, Christie Pippin (Koch); father, Frederick Pippin; and sister, Andrea Pippin Muha. He also delighted in being an uncle to Stacie Muha, Torben Olsen, and Emeric Olsen. The warmth of his friendship will be forever missed by his best friend and hunting companion, Molly, and by his extended family, including mother-in-law Trish Thoen (Aragon), father-in-law Dale Thoen, sister-in-law Stefanie Olsen (Thoen), and brother-in-law Kevin Olsen.

Brian’s gentle spirit, adventurous heart, and the love he shared with those around him will be remembered fondly. He touched the lives of so many, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and resilience. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever resonate in the memories cherished by all who knew him.
