Jerri Lynn Young: 1947 – 2024
In Loving Memory: Jerri Lynn Young
Jerri Lynn Young, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at the Wolfe Living Center in Harah, Oklahoma, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. She was 77 years old.
Born in Deadwood, South Dakota, on June 1, 1947, to Betty Laura Lee (McClelland) Eskew and Jerry J.Eskew.
Jerri will forever be remembered for her sassiness, spunk, and unwavering love for her family. Her culinary skills were legendary, and she graciously hosted gatherings, filling homes with warmth and delicious meals. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her strength and tenacity inspired everyone around her. Jerri was not only beautiful on the outside but also had a radiant soul. She never left home without her hair and makeup done, always wearing a smile that brightened any room.
Those who knew her loved her. Her family was her pride and joy. Jerri’s love for her children and grandchildren knew no bounds. She was a beacon of love, laughter, and encouragement, always making time for heartfelt conversations and warm hugs. To those who knew her, she was affectionately called Mom, Momma Jerri, Momma Young, and Gram or Grandma—a testament to her special place in their hearts.
Jerri was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Young; her son, John Thomas Young Jr.; her daughter, Laura Lynn (Young) Lund; her brother, John Thomas Eskew; and half-brothers: Wayne Rodney (Bob) Eskew, William Cecil (Bill) Eskew, and Harry Jefferson (Bud) Eskew. She is survived by her children: Debbie (Jim) Tidmore of Midwest City, Oklahoma, and Larry (Kandi) Young of Gillette, Wyoming. Her legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren: Jimmy Alexander Tidmore, Anna Merie Tidmore, Tarren (Savannah) Young, Dalton (Sierra) Young, Alexis (Chris) Buness, Danielle Lund and Caitlyn Holm. Jerri also leaves behind her half-sister, Mary A Eskew Lowe; and sisters-in-law, Sheri (Eskew) Koenig and Sandy Eskew; along with half-sister-in-law, Alice Eskew.
Jerri Lynn Young’s impact on the world will forever resonate, and her memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A celebration of life will be held on September 21, 2024 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1001 E Ninth St, Gillette, WY 82716.
Donations for the Jerri Young Memorial will be used to help remodel the therapy room at Wolfe Living Center in Harrah Oklahoma as they provided exceptional and loving care following the terminal diagnosis of brain cancer.
Tresa Hagen: 1920 – 2024
Tresa (Tagliavore) Hagen, 104, of Cheyenne, passed away at Aspen Wind Assisted Living Facility on Saturday, August 24, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 10, 1920, in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Louis and Angelina Tagliavore.
Tresa supported the war effort during WWII as a logistics manager. Along with her late husband, George Hagen, she worked 45 years with Cheyenne Newspapers, starting in the Circulation Department and then retiring as a supervisor in the Sales and Service Department. (Their combined services were over 70 years!)
She enjoyed traveling, gardening, loved family gatherings and was a wonderful cook and hostess. In her later years she enjoyed playing bingo and doing crafts.
Tresa is survived by her children: Patti Waddell, Bill Lewis, Diane (Ben) Martinez; grandchildren: Christy Stewart, Jeff Waddell, Rie (Ashley) Waddell, Courtney Lewis, Matthew (Nicole) Lewis, Chad (Jena) Martinez, Todd (Linda) Martinez, Zach (Dana) Martinez; 31 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She dearly loved her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; stepson, Keith Hagen; brothers, Jim and Andy Tagliavore; and sisters, Jenny Curran and Louise Richards.
Funeral Liturgy will be held on Tuesday September 3, 2024, at 10 a.m., in St. Mary’s Cathedral. Interment to follow the service at Olivet Cemetery. A reception will be held at Hartmann Hall, located at St. Mary’s Cathedral.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to St Mary’s Catholic School.
Jerry Leonard Westerfield: 1948 – 2024
Jerry Leonard Westerfield of Encampment, Wyoming, was born on March 29, 1948, in Parsons, Kansas, and passed away on August 19, 2024, at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colorado. His life came to a tragic end following a car crash on August 16, just north of Laramie, Wyoming, from which he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
His educational pursuits included attending schools in Springfield, Missouri, and Cheyenne, Wyoming, graduating from Cheyenne Central High School. Though his time at the University of Wyoming was brief, it marked an important period in his formative years.
Jerry’s career began at Mountain Bell in 1971 and he worked for its successor US West through 1999. His career included serving as a central office technician, managing switching and microwave radio equipment, and held various managerial roles throughout his career. His work took him across multiple locations, including Cheyenne, Rawlins and Casper, Wyoming, as well as Fort Collins and Denver, Colorado.
Known for his rugged individualism, Jerry had a rich array of interests and hobbies that painted a picture of a vibrant life. He was not just a dedicated worker; he embraced a variety of activities that included riding motorcycles and snowmobiles, sailing, ballroom and western swing dancing, as well as an amateur ham radio hobby and working on cars. After his retirement he took up playing the cello and was a member of a string quartet that performed around the Platte River valley. He played “O Holy Night” at the Christmas Eve service at the Encampment Presbyterian Church for many years. He also taught cello and violin to many students in Encampment and Rawlins. These interests enriched his life and brought joy to those around him.
He is survived by his brothers, Tom (Shelia) Westerfield (Aurora, Illinois) and Bill (Ruth) Westerfield (Cheyenne, Wyoming), along with five nieces and nephews: Cara (Nathan) Duell, Jennifer (Mark) Cash, Willy (Whitney) Westerfield, James (Mary) Westerfield, and Brian (Chandra) Westerfield. He was also blessed to have Liz Miranda and her children, Diva Miranda Jones and Chris Miranda, and Ken and Becky Kreusel in his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Westerfield and Loraine (Bethel) Westerfield.
Jerry’s life, marked by resilience and a zest for adventure, will be deeply missed. As family and friends remember him, reflections on his enduring spirit and the joy he brought into their lives will remain cherished memories.
