Shayed Leandra Dawn Big Medicine: 1996 – 2024
Shayed Leandra Dawn Big Medicine, a beloved homemaker with a spirit as vibrant as her favorite color pink, left this world on December 10, 2024, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, surrounded by the love she so generously gave to others. Born on May 7, 1996, in Riverton, Wyoming, Shay was a ray of sunshine who touched the lives of everyone she encountered.
Shay will be remembered for her deep commitment to her family—a proud mother to her daughter, Phoenix Wyrick, and her son, Cairo Reddell. She poured her heart into her role as a mother, finding immense joy in creating a nurturing environment for her children. As a wife to Jordan Reddell, she embodied love and support, displaying the true essence of partnership and family unity.
Educated through high school, Shay embraced life with an exuberance that was contagious. Her hobbies were colorful, much like her personality. She enjoyed cooking and transforming spaces with her decorating talents for any occasion. Her adventurous spirit led her on numerous road trips, with fond memories created during travels to places like Louisiana. Whether swimming in the hot tub or holding movie nights featuring scary films and her favorite, “Pitch Perfect,” every moment was cherished.
Shay’s love for fashion shone through her passion for having her nails and hair done, as well as her enjoyment in applying makeup. She loved to embrace her femininity and express herself.
Among her many proud accomplishments, Shay held dear her relationships with her brothers, Treyvale Big Medicine, Anthony Big Medicine, and J SunRhodes, as well as her sisters, Shawntey Big Medicine, Destiny Big Medicine, Jae Big Medicine, Trinity Yellowfox, and Serenity Yellowfox; alongside her sister, Eternity Yellowfox; Reddell, Randolph, Araujo, and Worcester in-laws. They formed an unbreakable bond that served as a support system through life’s challenges.
She was also surrounded by a loving network of family members, including the respected SunRhodes, Big Medicine, Duran, Monroe, Behan, Brown, and Jenkins families, which only strengthened the legacy of love she left behind. Though Shay mourns the loss of her mother, Loretta SunRhodes, grandmother, Donna Jenkins, grandfathers, Joe Brown and Jude Jenkins Sr., great-grandmother, Estelle SunRhodes, and great-grandfather, Dwight “Moody” SunRhodes, as well as brother-in-law, Miguel “Meaklo” Araujo, Jr., her memory continues to resonate through those she loved most.
Shayed Leandra Dawn Big Medicine was more than just a homemaker; she was a wonderful person with an infectious smile and a heart full of love. Her memories will forever remain a beautiful tapestry woven through the lives of her children, husband, and extended family. May her soul rest in peace and may the love she leaves behind continue to shine brightly.
Betty Jo Benson: 1935 – 2024
Betty Benson passed away December 18, at age 89, after a brief stay at Davis Hospice in Cheyenne. Betty was born on Nov. 21, 1935, in Newcastle to NS and Reta Updike while they lived in the Osage oil field.
She married Ken Benson in 1958, after both graduated from the University of Wyoming.
Ken in pharmacy and Betty in education. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ken and sister, Pat Smith (Newcastle). She is survived by her three sons: Bret (Laurie), Gillette, Scott (Ruth), New Braunfels, Texas, and Kent (Trish), Cheyenne; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Betty, Ken, and the boys lived in Cheyenne throughout their lives.
Betty volunteered for many community service organizations and worked for years at Needs Inc. She was an avid bridge player and continued playing cards up to her death.
Betty was also an avid reader and always watched the Denver professional sports teams as well as UW sports. She was a long-time member of “Daughter’s of American Revolution” and “Colonial Dames”.
Betty has been cremated, and she will be laid to rest in Newcastle at her family plot this spring. As per her wishes there will be no service.
Annette Marie Brogan: 1964 – 2024
Annette Marie Brogan, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, left this world on December 13, 2024, at the age of 60 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Born on September 19, 1964, in Phoenix, Arizona, Annette’s life was a tapestry woven with love, dedication, and an unparalleled commitment to family and community.
Throughout her career in the food industry, Annette was recognized as a hardworking and dedicated individual. She held a special place in the hearts of her customers, treating each interaction with kindness and a warmth that left lasting impressions. Her remarkable ability to connect with others made her an irreplaceable part of the lives she touched.
Annette was known as everyone’s therapist; she had an innate gift for offering the perfect advice and an understanding ear during times of need. Friends and family alike often leaned on her, seeking her wisdom and comfort. Those fortunate enough to know her considered her a saint, radiating positivity and compassion wherever she went, even if she didn’t agree.
Among her proudest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy and pride. Annette adorned her life with family dinners, a cherished tradition that allowed her to share laughter and create beautiful memories with her loved ones. She immersed herself in her Native American (Cherokee) heritage, drawing inspiration from nature and finding beauty in the world around her. Her interest in dream catchers was a testament to her appreciation of culture, and her love for playing slots on her phone became a delightful pastime that brought her relaxation and entertainment.
Annette leaves behind her devoted family including children: Angela Atkins, Pedro Brogan, and Kayla Hilliard; and grandchildren: Esperanza, Eizaiya, E’Niyah, Journie, Thomas, Andrew, Alex, Daymein, Jaylee, Sirron, Kei’Shon, Lyric, Page, Trinity, Arlo, Kaleigh, Cierra, Kaleb and Jacob; as well as Thomas Mendoza, who is the love of her life, who will carry her memory in their hearts forever. As they navigate life without her, they will hold tightly to the countless memories created with her, honoring the profound impact she had on their lives.
The world will be a little dimmer without Annette’s radiant spirit, but her legacy of love, support, and tender care will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her. Though she may have departed from this earthly realm, her soul remains entwined with those she cherished, a guiding light through the storms of life.

Louis Robert Duran: 1930 – 2024
Louis Robert Duran, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home in Cheyenne, Wyoming on December 17, 2024, at the age of 94. Born on May 18, 1930, in Pueblo, Colorado, Louis was a remarkable individual whose legacy will continue through his family and friends.
Louis proudly served his country in the Navy, Army, and ultimately retired from the Air Force Guard, reflecting a life dedicated to service and duty. He carried this sense of commitment into all areas of his life, exemplifying what it meant to be a wonderful dad and grandpa. His family was the pride of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Louis married the love of his life, Dolores Gallegos, in 1954, and their union remained a testament to enduring love until her passing in 2019. Together, they built a life full of memories, laughter, and love.
An Evanston, Wyoming high school graduate, Louis not only excelled academically but also actively participated in sports during his youth, fostering a deep appreciation for athletics that followed him throughout his life. A lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, and attending sports events—especially cheering on the Denver Broncos and Wyoming Cowboys. It was in these moments, sharing his passion for sports and the great outdoors, that he bonded with his family, including watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Louis had a delightful personality, known for being a great storyteller who could captivate any audience. His warmth and kindness made him a popular figure in every community he was part of, and he would go out of his way to help anyone in need. His love for music was also notable; he had been in a band where he entertained others and shared his joy for singing, delighting his grandchildren with Spanish songs.
Throughout his life, one of his proudest accomplishments was his family, alongside the honor of being involved in the first helicopter landing on Pikes Peak in the 1950s, a significant milestone in aviation history.
Louis is survived by his three daughters: Leona Espinoza, Kim Eres, and Julie (Lawrence) Garcia; along with grandchildren: DeeAnna (Frondee) Waters, Christopher (Sarah) Medaleno, Laurie (Moses) Gunn, Geena (Adrienne) Eres, Julien Garcia, Jordan Garcia and Lorenzo Espinoza; and great-grandchildren: Jasmin, Fuji, Dez Waters, Moses and Destiny Gunn, Brenden Medaleno, Jason and Gabrielle Lopez. He also leaves behind one great-great-grandson, who brought immense joy to his later years.
He is preceded in death by wife, Dolores Duran; and two sons-in-law, Philip Medaleno and Ron Eres.
The loss of Louis Robert Duran leaves a profound emptiness in the hearts of those who knew him. His compassion, stories, and unwavering support will be greatly missed, but the legacy of love he created will undoubtedly live on in the lives of his family and friends.
Bobbie Jean Jones: 1933 – 2024
Bobbie Jean Jones, born on September 6, 1933, in Meriman, Nebraska, passed away peacefully in her home on December 16, 2024, in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Bobbie’s life was dedicated to her family and the many friends she cherished throughout her years. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Sharon Goodman and her son-in-law, Ron Goodman. Bobbie also leaves behind her cherished granddaughter, Angela Villalobos; and her two great-grandchildren, Andrew Bustos and Neveah White.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her son, Mike and her beloved husband, Don Jones, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and companionship. Their bond remains a testament to their devotion throughout their years together.
Bobbie Jean Jones’s legacy will live on through the hearts of her loved ones, who will continue to honor her memory with the love and kindness she instilled in them.
Margaret Dwinell Montgomery: 1947 – 2024
Margaret Montgomery, 77, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2024, in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Margaret was born July 2, 1947 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Frank and Eithol Dwinell. Margaret spent her childhood on the family ranch in Carpenter, Wyoming where she attended school, graduating from her small Carpenter class in 1965. She attended the University of Wyoming where she met and married her husband, H. Earl Montgomery of Cheyenne. She and Earl were married September 14, 1968 in Cheyenne.
They remained in Cheyenne all their lives where they raised their two boys. Margaret worked as a secretary for Equitable Life Insurance in her early career. Later she would go on to work as a bookkeeper for Cheyenne Little Theatre and for Moore Insulation Company.
Margaret is survived by her husband of 56 years; one sister, Fanny Malm of Albin; her two boys, Brett (Sharon) of Laramie and Dirk (Jill) of Casper. She is also survived by her five grandchildren she loved very dearly: Tripp, Emma, Baylor, and twins Ellie and Macey. She was predeceased by her parents, one brother and one sister.
Margaret was a devoted wife and mother to her family and will dearly be missed. From her childhood, she always had a great love for animals but mostly dogs and cats. Those wishing to make a donation should do so to their local animal shelter in her memory. Cremation has taken place. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
Ardyce Gail Murdoch: 1933 – 2024
Ardyce Gail Murdoch, 91, of Cheyenne Wyoming, formerly of Carpenter, Wyoming, went to be with the lord, on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Cheyenne Regional Hospital.
Ardyce was born on April 29, 1933, in Axtel, Nebraska, a daughter of the late Carl and Metta Soneson.
Ardyce attended college in Wahoo, Nebraska, then nurses training in Sioux City, Iowa. She then worked as an OBGYN nurse for several years.
ON January 4, 1959, Ardyce marries Paul Murdoch. They lived in Oxford, Nebraska for a year, then moved to Carpenter, Wyoming.
Ardyce will always be remembered for her love of the lord, and numerous positions within the Presbyterian church.
Ardyce is survived by her three children: Kirby Murdoch, Kari Pace Murdoch (Karen), Kyle Murdoch (Angela); and her sister, Marlene Gugel; four grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 19 at 9 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church in Cheyenne, Wyoming, with a reception to follow, and then an interment service at Memorial Gardens.

Kevin Daniel Tharp: 1990 – 2024
Kevin Daniel Tharp is forever 34, of Cheyenne Wyoming. Kevin gained his wings in his home protected by his lifelong companion, Jaeda Bug. He was born on August 31, 1990, in Cheyenne Wyoming to Kevin Tharp and Kimberly Elder-Tomkus. If you lived in Cheyenne, you knew Kevin.
Kevin worked at the state of Wyoming as a journeyman electrician. He was a master hunter and fisherman, travelling the world with his dad catching the biggest fish. He loved his family and friends, there was never a second of any day that he didn’t live his life to the fullest. You would always catch him with a smile and went out of his way to make everyone’s lives brighter and full of laughter.
Kevin was preceded in death by his mentor, James Elder, AKA Pops.
Kevin was survived by his soulmate, Tori Hageman; his parents: Kevin Tharp, Kimberly Elder-Tomkus, Dan Tomkus and Johnny Gilfilian; his brothers, Brandan Gilfilian and Curtis Higgins; his nieces and nephews: Becklyn Gilfilian, Brinley Rehkop, Dakota Lobmeyer, Emmalyn and Grayson Higgins; grandparents: Glenda Elder, Albert and Mary Tharp, Roxanne and Jim Thompson; aunts and uncles; countless cousins; and all of the friends that he called family.
There will be a viewing held at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes on Thursday December 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Services will follow on Friday, December 20 at 2 p.m.
Earl Arthur Young: 1937 – 2024
Earl Arthur Young, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on December 14, 2024, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, at the age of 87. Earl was born on November 16,1937, in Clayton County, Iowa, to Howard and Fern Young. He lived a life that was a testament to kindness, generosity, and a spirit that embraced the joy of laughter.
Earl dedicated much of his career to being a machinist, where his hands were often busy helping to create and build. A true craftsman at heart, he found immense fulfillment in building furniture, working on cars, and tinkering in his garage. His creations were not merely objects; they were reflections of his dedication and love, meticulously crafted for friends and family alike.
A proud veteran, Earl served in the Army, where he distinguished himself as a sharpshooter. This discipline and focus translated into his everyday life, evident in the way he approached his hobbies with a sense of purpose and determination.
Earl was a man of great wit and humor, always quick with a joke that could light up any room. His gentle nature and loving spirit have left indelible marks on everyone who knew him. He was an extraordinary father to his three children. Earl is survived by his devoted wife, Doris Young; his son, Trevor Young (Cherie); daughter, Lesley Prentice (Steve); and son, Barry Young. His grandchildren, Sierra Marr (Stephen), Triston Young, Cole Young, and Destiney Prentice, were his proudest accomplishments. He cherished the time spent with them and reveled in every moment of their lives, celebrating their achievements with unbound joy.
Earl is also survived by his siblings: Barbara Speiser (Dale), Beverly Barclay (Duane), Kenneth Young (Diane), and Joseph Young (Linda) and David Young (Judy), who will carry his memory forward.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Fern; and his sister, Sharon Darnell; as well as his beloved granddaughters, Stephaney, Elizabeth, and Victoria Prentice. Their memories now rest alongside him as he finds peace.
As we remember Earl Arthur Young, we celebrate a life well-lived, a man whose legacy will endure through the love he shared and the memories he created. His laughter, kindness, and infinite love for his family will forever hold a cherished place in our hearts.
Andrew Allen Willett: 1954 – 2024
Andrew Allen “Bad Andy” Willett, 70, was born to Robert and Martha Willett on August 2, 1954, in Columbus, Ohio. He passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024, surrounded by many that he most loved.
Andy moved to Cheyenne in 1965 where he attended Our Savior Lutheran, Fairview Elementary, Buffalo Ridge Elementary, Carey Jr. High and East High school.
He joined the U.S. Army in 1971 at the age of 17, where he served at Ft. Hood, Texas, Korea, and Ft. Lewis Washington as a Tank Turret Mechanic. He was honorably discharged in 1975.
After returning to Cheyenne, he met and married Cindy D. Brown in 1975. They had two children and were married for 11 years.
Andy and his wife Lari began dating in 1986 where they were instantly inseparable. They were later married on March 6, 1993, in Phoenix, Arizona. She brought three children into Andys life, and they became the perfect blended family with unbreakable bonds.
From a young age, Andy began following in his father’s footsteps developing a natural love for things mechanical and spending time in his father’s junkyard. This love led him to a short career in Stock Car racing with his family by his side as his biggest fans. Many weekends you would find three generations of the Willett family supporting him as the pit crew and cheering him on from the stands.
After his car racing days his love transitioned to motorcycles, which quickly became his enjoyment in life. He and Lari rode thousands of miles traveling to many states and meeting the best people along the way. He also enjoyed spending time in nature and camping with family and friends, making many memories of mountain shenanigans.
His ability to fix damn near anything led him to a career as heavy equipment mechanic and operator. He worked 28 years for Reed Ready Mix (later Simon Contractors) where he eventually retired as Shop Manager. In retirement he worked at Seal Masters Cheyenne, where he worked part time until his health began to fail.
Andy is survived by his wife and love of his life for 39 years, Lari; his five children: Angela (RJ) Massengill, Colby (Selena) Willett, Misty Dawn Leyo, Evan (Brittany) Maurer, and Jeff (Lydia) Stoll; his bonus children: Mark and Kerrie (Squeeks) Twito; and 14 grandchildren: Trystan, Brianna and Riley Massengill; Jalen and Chayce (Nikayla) Willett; Kanen and Lilly Bumford; Gage and Danika Maurer; Jessie Yanson, Tony and Jacob Stoll; Zander and Ava Twito. He is also survived by two sisters, Diana (Sean) McNamara, Laura Cooper; one brother, Bobby (Terry) Willett; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Marty Willett; brother, Johnny Willett, and one grandchild, Lance Maurer.
Andy will be remembered as a great man, son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will always be in our hearts and will be watching over the family he loved so dearly. He had a life well lived.
