CASPER, Wyo. — The keynote speaker for the 2023 “Governor’s Prayer Breakfast” will be Anne Beiler, the founder of the soft pretzel business Auntie Anne’s, Governor Mark Gordon’s office said in a press release Friday.
“Beiler’s journey towards success began many years before she rolled the first pretzel, when she and her husband experienced any parent’s worst nightmare — the loss of a child,” the press release said. “This propelled Beiler into years of darkness, depression, and despair, but out of her pain came purpose and the desire to persevere towards personal and professional success. Beiler began twisting pretzels in 1987 to support her husband’s vision of offering free counseling services in their community. What started as a single farmers market stand grew into Auntie Anne’s.”
The Governor’s Prayer Breakfast will start at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15 at the Little America Hotel and Resort, 2800 W. Lincolnway in Cheyenne.
“Jennie and I are immensely grateful for the ongoing support Wyomingites have shown for the Prayer Breakfast the past four years,” Gordon said in the press release. “We are eagerly looking forward to the 2023 event.”
The annual Governor’s Prayer Breakfast is nondenominational and nonpartisan, Gordon’s office said. It is similar to the National Prayer Breakfast tradition that started in 1953. Wyoming’s version is hosted by the governor and the Wyoming Governor’s Residence Foundation.
