Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)


Characterized by excessive anxiety or worry, experienced on most days for at least six months.

Symptoms may include:

  • Being irritable
  • Muscle tension
  • Sleep problems, such as difficulty falling or staying asleep

Panic Disorder


Characterized by recurrent, unexpected panic attacks.

Symptoms may include:

  • Heart palpitations, a pounding heart or an accelerated heartrate
  • Sweating
  • Trembling or shaking
  • Shortness of breath, feeling smothered or choked
  • Feelings of impending doom
  • Feeling out of control

Phobia-related disorders:


A phobia is an intense fear of—or aversion to—specific objects or situations.

Social anxiety disorder:

Causes people to avoid social situations and can negatively affect school and work. 


Separation anxiety disorder:
Characterized by fears about being separated from people to whom a person is attached. Children and adults can have this disorder.
