We specialize in hyperlocal coverage of the people, places and events that shape the communities we love. The mission of our team of award-winning, Wyoming-based reporters is connecting and building communities, and we do that by bringing readers accurate stories first and forever free.

CapCity.news generates more than 417,000 pageviews per month and has more than 12,000 Facebook followers, making it one of Cheyenne’s fastest growing local news sites. Our mission is to provide coverage of local government, crime, weather, roads, business, events and community happenings for readers who live within 50 miles of Cheyenne, Wyoming. We also provide Cheyenne-based news, including coverage of state government, for publication on our sister platforms in Casper and Gillette/Campbell County.

Cap City News is committed to following the Society of Professional Journalists Code of Ethics. “Ethical journalism strives to ensure the free exchange of information that is accurate, fair and thorough,” the SPJ states. Our journalists take responsibility for the accuracy of their work, verify information before releasing it, and use clearly identified and original sources. They take care not to misrepresent facts, and they seek subjects of news coverage to allow them to respond. Our reporting on all platforms will be truthful and transparent.
