CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued a winter weather advisory for the northern Nebraska Panhandle, affecting areas including Northern Sioux, Box Butte and Dawes County. This advisory anticipates light snow accumulations, particularly around the Pine Ridge area, with localized amounts possibly exceeding 4 inches where snow showers persist.

Dense fog is also a concern but is expected to clear later this morning, moving from west to east. Meanwhile, higher terrain west of Laramie is bracing for accumulating snowfall and gusty winds.

Today’s forecast in Cheyenne includes areas of dense fog before 8 a.m., shifting to mostly sunny skies with a high near 44. The wind will pick up in the afternoon, potentially gusting as high as 30 mph. Tonight, flurries could appear after 8 p.m. with a low around 16.

Snow showers are likely Friday, especially after 11 a.m., with a 60% chance of precipitation and potential new snow accumulation of 1–2 inches. The weekend promises clearer skies, with sunny conditions and temperatures gradually warming from a high near 39 on Saturday to around 50 by Washington’s Birthday.

Looking ahead, Tuesday will be sunny and breezy with a high near 54, followed by a slight chance of rain and snow showers into Wednesday, when the weather will remain mostly sunny with a high near 49.
