Cheyenne to see sunny skies as snow retreats Friday

Cheyenne Botanical Gardens Feb. 4 (Stew Dyer / Cap City News)

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Cheyenne can expect snow until about 11 a.m. today with the chances continuing to dwindle as the morning progresses. Light dustings of up to 2 inches are expected.

Much drier air will begin to work into the northern zones this afternoon, leading to a rapid clearing. This will be a little slow to progress southward, but should reach the Interstate 80 corridor around sunset. With clear skies, light winds and fresh snow cover, Cheyenne will likely be looking at pretty cold temperatures tonight.

Winds could pick up Saturday night, especially in wind-prone areas, but the weekend looks to be mostly sunny with a highs in the 40s and 50s. This trend looks to continue until the middle of next week, when another snowstorm could make its way to southeast Wyoming.
