Warm, dry week ahead for Cheyenne with weekend weather shift

(John Roedel, Cap City News)

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — As another week in Cheyenne picks up steam, residents can anticipate a blend of above-average temperatures and dry conditions. According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, the forecast for most of the week looks warm and clear, with a shift in weather patterns expected toward the weekend.

For the early part of the week, temperatures east of Interstate 25 are set to hover in the 60s, a welcome warmth for mid-March. However, a slight dip is on the horizon for Wednesday due to a backdoor cold front moving in from the north. Despite the brief cooldown, temperatures remain above normal across southeast Wyoming.

The weather service also warns of possible gusty west winds on Thursday afternoon, particularly in wind-prone areas of southeast Wyoming, where gusts could reach 40–50 mph. This condition, coupled with dry air, may raise fire weather concerns, although the risk remains minimal at this time.

By the end of the week, the chance for precipitation increases, marking a transition to more unsettled weather patterns through the weekend. The forecast suggests a mix of rain and potential snowfall as a Pacific wave moves in, with the exact timing and intensity still uncertain.
