CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Cheyenne residents can anticipate a slow warming trend later this week, according to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne. The forecast highlights a minor weather disturbance due to a Pacific cold front, promising cooler temperatures and potential precipitation on Wednesday.

Tuesday’s weather will maintain a dry pattern with surface temperatures ranging from the mid-40s in the north to the low 60s in far southeast Wyoming and western Nebraska. However, the tranquility is short-lived as the forecast Pacific cold front moves in Tuesday night, bringing scattered showers and possible snow above 7,500 feet.

While the likelihood of thunderstorms is low, some showers might produce graupel or soft hail as they pass through the region, dissipating by Wednesday evening.

Thursday marks the start of a warming trend, with temperatures climbing to the mid-50s to low 60s across most of southeast Wyoming and western Nebraska. Snow from the previous weekend’s system is expected to melt by Thursday afternoon, paving the way for warmer days ahead.

The long-term forecast into the weekend and early next week predicts above-average temperatures for mid-April, with highs potentially reaching the mid-70s. Precipitation chances remain low, with only a few weak disturbances causing widely scattered showers, mainly in the mountains.

However, uncertainty grows toward the end of the weekend and into next week as models diverge on the track and strength of an upper-level low approaching from the Pacific Coast. This could influence weather patterns significantly, with possibilities ranging from prolonged warmth to increased precipitation.
