CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Southeast Wyoming residents can anticipate a balmy weekend with temperatures forecast to soar into the upper 60s and 70s, potentially hitting the low 80s in certain areas. The National Weather Service in Cheyenne highlights a pleasant yet potentially hazardous few days due to elevated fire weather conditions.

Much of the region will see above-normal temperatures Friday and through the weekend. Cheyenne itself could experience afternoon highs in the upper echelons of this range, spurred by an upper-level ridge pushing eastward.

However, with the warmth, the risk of fire weather conditions increases. Afternoon relative humidity could approach 15% Friday afternoon in western Carbon County with winds gusting at up to 25 mph out of the southwest. Sunday may present the highest threat for critical fire weather, as stronger flows arrive ahead of a looming upper-level low.

Looking ahead, the onset of next week could still cling to the warmer temperatures, but not for long. Monday looks like the last day of warmth, with a storm system expected to bring cooler and more unsettled weather throughout the week. The detailed dynamics of this system remain uncertain, with the potential for strong winds and varying precipitation patterns.

Confidence in any expected impacts from the storm system are low at this time.
