CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Cheyenne residents can expect a mix of cooler temperatures and thunderstorms this week, according to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne. Today, the area will experience isolated showers and potential thunderstorms, particularly west of the Laramie Range.

Tomorrow and Thursday, the weather is set to be relatively mild, with late-day showers and thunderstorms increasing in likelihood.

As the week progresses, the forecast predicts a turn toward cooler, wetter conditions starting Friday and continuing over the weekend.

In the short term, the National Weather Service in Cheyenne reports that capital city’s temperatures will remain seasonal overnight, with most areas seeing temperatures in the 30s. Daytime temps today will be moderated by a weak cool front, keeping highs in the mid- to upper 50s in most areas, although the North Platte River Valley might reach the lower 60s.

Wednesday will bring slightly higher temperatures with highs in the 60s and 70s, feeling more like spring. However, the chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms will persist into the evening.

Thursday is expected to be the warmest day of the week, with temperatures reaching near 80 degrees in lower elevations. Thursday’s main hazards will be gusty winds and large hail as conditions may lead to isolated, strong and potentially severe thunderstorms before a cooler front arrives in the evening.

For the long term, the weather pattern will remain unsettled with a good chance of rain and higher-elevation snow through Monday. Most lower-elevation areas should see minimal impacts, with rain as the main precipitation type.
