CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Residents of Cheyenne and surrounding areas in southeast Wyoming should brace for a variety of weather conditions this week, including strong winds and possible fire hazards, according to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne.

High wind watches and warnings will take effect early Tuesday morning and continue through the afternoon. These warnings particularly concern wind-prone corridors of southeast Wyoming and areas just east of the Laramie Range. Gusty winds could reach speeds of 50–60 mph in higher-terrain areas shortly after sunrise on Tuesday.

Additionally, a fire weather watch has been issued for Tuesday afternoon in parts of the North Platte River Valley, spanning from Torrington to Bridgeport. This watch is due to the combination of gusty winds and low relative humidity, which could accelerate the spread of fires.

Monday will see a pleasant uptick in temperatures, with highs expected in the 60s and 70s under mostly sunny skies. However, cloud cover will increase from west to east by late afternoon, with chances of rain showers and isolated thunderstorms by evening, mainly west of the Laramie Range.

For the extended outlook, the forecast includes multiple rounds of rain and snow showers, with occasional thunderstorms possible daily through the end of the week.
