Cheyenne welcomes weekend warmup after chilly Friday

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Cheyenne residents can expect a shift in weather conditions, according to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne. A cold front arriving on Friday will bring showers and isolated thunderstorms, with snowfall predicted above 6,500 feet.

Following today’s cooler temperatures and gusty winds, the next progressive upper-level trough pushing east out of the eastern Pacific will impact the region on Friday. Despite varying model predictions, higher precipitation is expected along the I-80 corridor and in western Nebraska, although it may be too warm early in the day for snow to accumulate at lower elevations.

Looking to the weekend, conditions are anticipated to improve significantly, becoming dry and warm. Saturday will see a rise in temperatures, reaching the low to mid-60s as a shortwave ridge builds overhead.

Sunday promises to be the warmest day of the upcoming period, with maximum temperatures mainly in the 70s. However, the weather will remain active into next week. Weather is expected to be breezy to windy and cooler for Monday through Wednesday, with a possibility of scattered late-day showers and thunderstorms.
