CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Cheyenne will experience varied weather this weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne. Today, expect slightly cooler temperatures with daytime highs in the 60s and increasing clouds by evening. Windy conditions from the past few days are tapering off, though gusts of at least 40–50 mph may still occur around the Interstate 80 Summit and western Nebraska.

Saturday brings the next chance for rain showers and isolated thunderstorms. Rainfall may exceed a tenth of an inch in some areas. The evening could see a weak mountain wave event, with wind gusts of 60+ mph possible in the Arlington, I-80 Summit and Bordeaux areas.

Sunday will start with strong winds, especially along the Laramie Range foothills. Highs will reach the 60s and 70s, making it a pleasant day for outdoor activities. Isolated rain showers may occur in northern regions in the morning.

Looking to next week, temperatures will be warmer as an upper-level ridge takes over. Memorial Day is expected to be dry with rising temperatures. By Tuesday, there is a chance of showers, particularly in the western mountains and possibly reaching Cheyenne by evening. Showers are more likely on Wednesday as a new shortwave moves into the state.
