Warm weather continues; showers expected this weekend

(Stephanie Lam, Cap City News)

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Cheyenne will enjoy warm weather through the late week, with highs in the 80s and low 90s on Thursday and Friday. A surface cold front moved through Cheyenne last night, bringing clear skies this morning. The temperatures are expected to climb back to near yesterday’s highs.

An upper-ridge axis will move across the area this evening as the cold front shifts into Nebraska. Increasing low-level humidity on Friday will bring higher afternoon humidity and a chance for showers and thunderstorms late Friday afternoon.

Saturday through Monday will see increasing chances for afternoon and evening showers and weak thunderstorms. Saturday will bring another round of afternoon and evening showers and storms, with cooler temperatures in the 70s due to abundant cloud cover.

Sunday and Monday will have the greatest coverage of late-day showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures will be slightly warmer on Monday with less cloud coverage.

Looking ahead, Tuesday and Wednesday will bring warmer temperatures and a decrease in shower and thunderstorm activity. Highs are projected to reach the 80s, nearing 90 degrees, by Wednesday. Warmer temperatures aloft will increase the convective inhibition, leading to only isolated late-day showers and thunderstorms, mainly near the mountains.
