CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to impact the Cheyenne area through early next week, with the highest chances of precipitation occurring on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne.

Today, afternoon thunderstorms are anticipated, but the likelihood of severe weather remains low due to minimal instability. While there is some risk of gusty winds and isolated large hail, most storms are expected to bring only brief periods of heavy rainfall.

Thursday will see continued storm activity, though coverage will be reduced compared to today. Dry conditions are forecast for Friday and Saturday as a ridge of high pressure builds over the region, leading to warmer temperatures and increasing fire weather concerns. Expect highs in the mid-80s to mid-90s across southeast Wyoming.

As the weekend progresses, a return of moisture is expected, bringing more scattered showers and thunderstorms late Sunday. This pattern will likely continue into early next week, with storms most prevalent near the Colorado state line.
