Rain, storms likely through late week in Cheyenne

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Cheyenne will see a hot, mostly dry Tuesday with highs in the 90s along and east of Interstate 25. Areas west of I-25 should stay in the 80s. Some models suggest that weak disturbances might trigger isolated storms by late afternoon, especially south of I-80. Expect only a few sprinkles and gusty winds.

The weather will change on Wednesday as a blocking pattern sets up over the region. This pattern will support deep moisture and frequent thunderstorms across the area. Rainfall could be heavy at times. Storms should become widespread by early afternoon and continue through the evening.

Thursday will see more rain and storms as the monsoonal pattern persists. Temperatures will cool with increasing cloud cover. The trend continues into the weekend with higher chances of precipitation each afternoon due to monsoonal moisture trapped in the atmosphere. Drier conditions may return by Sunday as a low-pressure system off the Pacific Northwest attempts to move southeast, reducing moisture in the region.
