Stormy Monday in Cheyenne with drier days ahead

Depot Plaza Feb. 3 (Stew Dyer / Cap City News)

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible in Cheyenne today, with heavy rainfall, strong winds and large hail expected. These storms are resulting from a combination of southwesterly flow and increased moisture, with dewpoints in the mid-50s across southeast Wyoming. Some storms may reach severe levels, with hail warnings and wind gusts over 25 mph.

Tuesday will mark a shift to dry weather, which will last through Saturday. Fire weather conditions are likely on Tuesday due to low relative humidity and strong gusty winds, creating near-critical fire danger. Temperatures will warm, with the highest readings forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday, reaching the upper 80s and low 90s.

By Wednesday night, a cold front will move through the area, potentially bringing more showers east of the Interstate 25 corridor. Temperatures will drop by around 5 degrees, leading to highs in the 70s to low 80s on Thursday. Dry conditions are expected for the remainder of the week, with a gradual warming trend heading into the weekend.
