CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A red flag warning has been issued for much of southeast Wyoming, including Cheyenne, by the National Weather Service in Cheyenne. This warning is in effect from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today.

Expect southwest winds between 15 and 25 mph, with gusts of up to 35 mph. Humidity will drop to between 10% and 15%, creating ideal conditions for rapid fire spread. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged.

Today will be hot and dry. Afternoon highs will reach the 80s west of Interstate 25 and the 90s farther east. A cold front will move in this evening, bringing a slight chance of light showers along the Wyoming–Nebraska border. Thursday will be cooler, with highs mostly in the 70s and low 80s.

The weather will remain dry for the rest of the week, keeping fire weather conditions elevated in some areas. Looking ahead, temperatures are expected to be near normal through the weekend, with minimal chances for precipitation.
