Cooler temperatures today, warmup Friday for Cheyenne

(Stew Dyer / Cap City News)

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Cheyenne will see cooler temperatures today as a cold front moves through the area, with highs ranging from the upper 60s to low 80s. Skies will remain partly to mostly cloudy throughout the morning, but clearing is expected by the afternoon. There’s a slight chance of lingering showers before the atmosphere fully dries out behind an upper-level shortwave trough.

The National Weather Service in Cheyenne is forecasting that temperatures today will range from the mid-40s to low 80s, depending on location, with the coolest spots west of Interstate 25. Winds will be calm, though some fog may develop in valley areas during the early morning hours.

Conditions will warm up starting Friday as an upper-level ridge builds into the region. Highs are forecast to reach the mid-70s west of I-25, with areas east of I-25 climbing into the upper 70s to mid-80s. These dry, warm conditions will persist into the weekend, bringing increased fire weather risks by Sunday and Monday.

Low humidity and gusty west winds will elevate fire weather concerns by Sunday, with gusts of 15–25 mph expected. Residents should remain alert as conditions could worsen with the approach of the weekend.
