Cooler temperatures expected for Cheyenne this weekend

(Stew Dyer / Cap City News)

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Gusty winds and dry conditions will raise fire weather concerns today for southeast Wyoming. Afternoon highs will reach around 80–90 degrees for areas east of the Laramie Range, with the warmest temperatures in the North Platte River Valley, according to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne.

Saturday will see a cold front sweep through, dropping temperatures by 10–20 degrees. Highs will be in the 60s, with cooler areas seeing rain showers, though accumulation will be minimal. Some elevated areas in the Snowy Range could see light snow above 10,000 feet, though significant winter conditions aren’t expected.

Sunday morning will be chilly, with temperatures in the 30s in some locations before climbing to the 50s and 60s in the afternoon.

Looking ahead, temperatures will gradually rise into next week, with the possibility of more scattered showers by Monday night, particularly around the Sierra Madre and Snowy ranges. By midweek, conditions are expected to feature slightly above average temperatures, though forecast uncertainty remains due to the interaction of an upper-level trough approaching from the northwest.
