Cold front carries dry, breezy air to Cheyenne

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Dry air and breezy winds will create prime conditions for possible fires this week.

The National Weather Service in Cheyenne reports that skies will be clear all throughout the week and winds may vary from 5 mph to 30 mph.

Temperatures will also plummet starting this week, especially the overnight lows. The highs and lows over the next several days are as follows:

  • Monday: High of 69, low of 37
  • Tuesday: High of 71, low of 47
  • Wednesday: High of 83, low of 45
  • Thursday: High of 74, low of 40

Red flag warnings are also in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. for regions outside Cheyenne, including Laramie and just north of Wheatland. Cheyenne is not currently under a red flag warning, however. The NWS in Cheyenne also reports in its forecast discussion that fire conditions will persist in southeast Wyoming throughout the week.
