CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Fire weather concerns remain elevated across southeast Wyoming, prompting red flag warnings for much of the region. Areas along and west of the Laramie Range are under a red flag warning through 8 p.m. Wednesday, while areas east of the Laramie Range are affected by a separate warning from noon to 6 p.m. today.

The National Weather Service in Cheyenne expects warm, dry and breezy conditions to contribute to critical fire weather risks throughout the week. Winds are forecast to increase significantly, with gusts potentially reaching up to 60 mph in wind-prone areas tonight into Wednesday morning. A high wind watch is also in effect for these regions, and fire weather warnings may expand as the dry conditions persist.

Today’s temperatures in southeast Wyoming will rise into the mid-70s, with stronger westerly winds returning this afternoon. These conditions, coupled with low humidity, will continue to elevate fire risks, especially for areas west of the Laramie Range. Fire conditions will likely remain critical through Wednesday, with continued concerns for areas east of the Laramie Range as well.

Looking ahead, temperatures will gradually rise, reaching the mid-80s by the weekend. Dry conditions will prevail, with no precipitation expected in the forecast. Fire weather warnings may be issued daily throughout the week as southeast Wyoming faces an extended period of warm, dry and windy weather.
