CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Cheyenne will start the weekend on a mild note, but a major weather shift is coming. High pressure will bring a sunny Saturday with temperatures reaching the mid-50s to low 60s east of the Interstate 25 corridor. Northern and western areas may stay cooler, with highs in the mid-40s where snow cover remains.

By late afternoon Saturday, clouds will begin to increase as a cold front approaches from the west, according to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne. This front is expected to bring a significant drop in temperatures and snowfall to Cheyenne and much of southeast Wyoming, but temperatures should remain in the 50s for those attending the Día de los Muertos activities around the capital city.

Early Sunday morning, light snow showers will begin in western areas and gradually spread eastward. Colder temperatures will accompany the snowfall, with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s across southeast Wyoming and lows dropping into the 20s by nightfall. Snowfall amounts will stay low for most of the region, with accumulations under an inch expected outside the mountains. Mountain areas, including the Snowy and Sierra Madre ranges, may see heavier snow, with totals reaching 6–9 inches.

In the Nebraska Panhandle, warmer temperatures could mean rain showers through early Sunday before colder air arrives, switching precipitation over to snow by evening. Light snow may linger into Monday morning, especially along the I-80 corridor.

The wintry weather won’t end there. On Monday night, brief high pressure will provide a temporary break, but another storm system is expected by Tuesday, bringing high winds and potentially hazardous conditions. Gusts could reach 65–70 mph in wind-prone areas like Arlington and Bordeaux, with strong westerly winds extending into adjacent plains.

Wednesday will bring another round of snow as a low-pressure trough moves across the region. Snowfall could be more significant, with advisory-level accumulations possible in mountain areas. Temperatures will drop sharply, with highs in the mid-20s to low 40s and overnight lows dipping into the single digits.

This pattern of cold and snowy weather is expected to continue into the end of the week. Strong winds may return on Friday, followed by more snow chances heading into Saturday.
