Windy start to week expected for Cheyenne region

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Cheyenne-area residents will likely have some strong gusting winds to contend with as the coming week kicks off, according to forecasts from the National Weather Service in Cheyenne.

Monday will likely be mostly sunny, with a high temperature near 41 degrees. The NWS in Cheyenne reports that winds will likely reach up to 20 mph, with gusts as strong as 30 mph possible.

At night, temperatures should fall to a low around 25 degrees. Wind speeds are expected to remain fairly constant from the day, still reaching gusting speeds around 30 mph.

A high wind warning will be in effect from 2 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday. During this time, the NWS in Cheyenne reports that wind gusts of up to 60 mph are possible. Motorists are urged to use caution, and vehicles like light, high-profile trucks are advised to stay off the roads if possible.

Besides the strong winds, Tuesday is expected to be mostly sunny with a high temperature of about 45 degrees. After the wind warning expires in the afternoon, conditions will still remain blustery, and the NWS in Cheyenne reports wind gusts of up to 35 mph.
