Scattered rain, snow showers set to bring breezy night to Cheyenne

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Cheyenne can expect a blend of mild and chilly weather this week, marked by a quick-moving cold front and intermittent winds.

Today, areas around western Nebraska and far-eastern Wyoming will start with dense fog. The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued a dense fog advisory for these regions, active through early Tuesday morning. Later, clouds will increase as a Pacific cold front moves into the area. Cheyenne may see a brief period of rain and snow in the evening, with only a dusting to 1 inch expected for the high plains.

By Wednesday, this cold front will push east, leaving behind near-average temperatures, with highs reaching the 40s west of the Laramie Range and up to 50 degrees around the Interstate 25 corridor. As warmer air returns on Thursday, temperatures may climb into the 50s and low 60s. However, windy conditions could affect areas like Arlington and the I-80 Summit, where gusts around 60 mph are possible, although confidence in wind forecasts remains low, according to the NWS in Cheyenne.

Over the weekend, temperatures will dip again as another cold front arrives Saturday, bringing breezier weather and light snow to the mountains. The eastern plains, however, should stay mostly dry. Sunday and Monday will remain chilly, with mixed models predicting possible snow accumulations by early next week.
