Mild temperatures to continue through Saturday before a shift to colder conditions

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Gusty winds and frigid windchills impacted southeast Wyoming early Wednesday. Winds at the Interstate 80 Summit reached over 60 mph, with temperatures in the teens and 20s. Windchills in the region ranged from single digits to below zero.

High wind warnings remain active until 5 p.m. for Arlington and the I-80 Summit area, according to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne. Dawes County, Nebraska, is also under a warning until the same time. Wind speeds are expected to gradually decrease by sunset.

Temperatures will begin rebounding Wednesday, with the warming trend continuing through Saturday. Highs are forecast to climb 10–15 degrees above seasonal averages Thursday and Friday. Dry conditions and reduced winds will accompany this warmer weather.

A strong cold front is predicted to arrive late this weekend. Near-normal temperatures and a chance for snow, particularly in the Snowy and Sierra Madre ranges, are possible. Cooler conditions could linger into early next week.
