CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Cheyenne residents should prepare for snow showers and colder temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday, which may affect travel ahead of Thanksgiving. According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, heavy snowfall is expected in mountain areas, with up to 2 feet of accumulation in the Sierra Madre Range.

A winter storm warning remains in effect for the Snowy and Sierra Madre ranges until Wednesday. The Interstate 80 Summit and surrounding areas are under a winter weather advisory through Wednesday morning. These conditions will bring 2–3 inches of snow, with blowing and drifting possible due to increasing northwest winds. Travel along Interstate 80 may become hazardous, especially west of Cheyenne.

For Cheyenne and other High Plains areas, snowfall totals will likely be lighter, ranging from a dusting to 2 inches. High temperatures will hover in the 30s through Wednesday, with lows dropping into the single digits to teens by Thursday morning. Breezy to windy conditions are forecast to persist through the week.

Thanksgiving is expected to remain dry, with highs in the 30s under breezy conditions. Light snow showers could return early Saturday, though significant accumulations are not anticipated.
