CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Residents of southeast Wyoming should prepare for strong winds Saturday morning, with a high wind warning in effect until 2 p.m. for Arlington, Elk Mountain, Bordeaux and the Interstate 80 Summit. Winds will reach 25–35 mph, with gusts of up to 65 mph, according to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne.
After the warning expires, winds are expected to diminish as low- and mid-level gradients ease. High temperatures will range from the mid-30s west of Interstate 25 to the upper 40s east of the highway. Overnight, northwest flow aloft will maintain dry conditions, and temperatures will be a few degrees warmer than Friday night.
Sunday’s forecast brings continued dry conditions, with lower winds and slightly warmer temperatures. A backdoor cold front will bring colder temperatures in the teens Sunday night for parts of the Nebraska Panhandle, but southeast Wyoming will remain dry through the period.
Looking ahead, southeast Wyoming will see mild and mostly dry weather through the week. Tuesday’s temperatures could approach 60 degrees as downslope winds warm the area. Strong winds will remain a theme through midweek, but calmer conditions and a cooling trend may arrive late next week.
