CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A winter storm warning remains in effect for the Snowy Range until 8 p.m. Tuesday, with total snow accumulations of 12–15 inches expected. The Sierra Madre Range remains under a winter weather advisory until 8 p.m., with snowfall totals ranging from 5 to 10 inches.

High winds are another concern Tuesday morning, particularly for wind-prone areas of southeast Wyoming. A high wind warning will remain in effect until 11 a.m., with winds gradually decreasing through the afternoon. The National Weather Service in Cheyenne forecasts breezy to windy conditions for most of the day, accompanied by near-seasonable temperatures.

Another high-wind event is likely late Tuesday night through Wednesday night, with Arlington, Bordeaux, the Interstate 80 Summit, foothills and northern Carbon County expected to experience the strongest winds. A high wind watch will go into effect at 2 a.m. Wednesday for these areas. Winds could intensify Wednesday afternoon and evening under strong northwest flow aloft.

By Thursday, winds will begin to weaken as pressure gradients ease and a ridge builds over the Rockies. Dry and mild weather will continue through the weekend, with temperatures expected to reach the mid- to upper 50s in lower elevations east of I-25.

The weather pattern for early next week remains uncertain. A closed low approaching the California coastline could influence conditions in the region.
