CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Winds will remain strong across southeast Wyoming on Thursday, although not as intense as they were earlier in the week. A high wind warning is expected to expire by early morning, but gusts of up to 50 mph are possible through the day, particularly in the Nebraska Panhandle. Cooler temperatures will accompany these winds as a cold front moves through the region, keeping highs in the 40s to near 50 degrees.

Dry and milder weather will settle in starting Friday, with temperatures rebounding into the upper 40s and mid-50s. The National Weather Service in Cheyenne attributes this warming trend to a ridge developing over the Intermountain West, which will produce downslope winds and weaker gradients. Friday night will remain dry with moderate overnight lows.

Looking to the weekend, the region will experience mild temperatures but face another potential high-wind event Sunday into early Monday. Winds could exceed 60 mph, affecting Laramie, Cheyenne and other areas east of Interstate 25. By early next week, temperatures will trend cooler, with a chance for snow in the mountains on Monday and in lower elevations by Christmas Day.
