CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Southeast Wyoming will face another round of strong winds and mountain snowfall starting this afternoon as a Pacific storm system approaches.
High wind warnings are in effect for Arlington, Bordeaux and the Interstate 80 Summit, with gusts exceeding 60 mph expected. Strong winds may impact additional areas Friday night into Saturday.
Mountain snowfall will intensify today, with the Sierra Madre Range expected to receive 8–12 inches of snow on west-facing slopes. The Snowy Range will also see significant snowfall, with accumulations of 6–9 inches. A winter weather advisory has been issued for both ranges.
According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, this event marks the beginning of several rounds of snow and wind expected through Monday.
Strong winds will persist into Sunday, with gusts reaching 60 mph or higher in wind-prone areas and possibly extending into adjacent zones like central Laramie County. Mountain snow totals could exceed a foot by Monday, with gradual accumulations helping to mitigate the impact. Conditions are expected to calm midweek as ridging builds over the West Coast, bringing drier weather.
