Cheyenne area under high wind warning through tonight; slight chance of snow for area through weekend

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has placed the community under a high wind warning through this evening, as the occasional gust could reach as high as 50 mph. The station also predicts there to be about a 20% chance of snow in the evening.

Today’s high is 47 degrees with a 10% chance of snow through the day. Wind speeds should regularly reach 25–30 mph. The low tonight will be around 28 degrees, but winds will calm somewhat. By this evening, a regular gust of wind will likely blow at around 15–25 mph, but could also still reach 40 mph.

Sunday morning and afternoon will be warmer and calmer than Saturday. Sunday’s high is 53 and, though still breezy, winds will likely be gentler at 15–20 mph during the day.

Though the rest of Sunday will be calmer, the evening could see again high winds of up to 25–35 mph.

Slight chances of snow are back on the radar Monday, but won’t get higher than about a 20% chance for the Cheyenne area. Monday’s high will be 38 degrees with a northwest wind of 35–40 mph. That will decrease to 25–30 mph later in the afternoon.
