High winds likely, snow possible in coming days

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Windy conditions and snowy weather will be possible in the final days of the year, according to reports from the National Weather Service in Cheyenne.

The NWS in Cheyenne has declared a high wind warning that will go into effect at 11 p.m. on Sunday night and continue until Monday at 5 p.m. Wind speeds could exceed 55 mph throughout the duration of the high wind warning. The NWS in Cheyenne also advises motorists to use extra caution, and light and high-profile vehicles like box trucks are encouraged to stay off the roads.

Monday also brings with it a 30% chance of snow, mainly coming after 11 a.m. The day should be mostly sunny, with a high temperature near 37 degrees.

After nightfall, temperatures are expected to fall to a low of around 15 degrees while increasing cloud coverage moves into the region.

On Tuesday, the Cheyenne area will see a slight 20% chance of snowfall, again expected to arrive in the later morning hours. The NWS in Cheyenne predicts a high of around 30 degrees.

At night, temps should fall to a low of just 12 degrees as skies begin to clear.
