CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Wyomingites in Laramie County may get a double serving of high winds and some snow in the coming days.

The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued a high wind warning that is in effect until 5 p.m. Monday. Winds will blow through the region at anywhere from 30 to 40 mph throughout the day, with gusts as high as 55 mph. Winds will calm to around 15–20 mph later into the night and then settle below 10 mph after midnight.

Cheyenne has a 20% chance of snow showers before 11 p.m., though this will most likely affect the mountain regions. However, any snow accumulation near Cheyenne or nearby interstates may lead to blowing snow and reduced visibility.

Skies will be sunny Monday and then partly sunny New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. The high on Monday will be 38 degrees, and the overnight low will be around 14 degrees. The highs and lows over the next several days are as follows:

  • Tuesday: High of 32, low of 9
  • Wednesday: High of 36, low of 18
  • Thursday: High of 41, low of 24
