CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Southeast Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle will see increasing chances for snow and colder temperatures this weekend as a winter weather system moves into the region. A freezing fog advisory remains in effect this morning for Laramie County, while a dense fog advisory is in place for the Nebraska Panhandle. Fog may cause slick roadways with light icing on elevated surfaces. Visibility may remain limited until late morning.

Snow will develop this afternoon as a Pacific storm system approaches from the west, according to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne. The Sierra Madre and Snowy ranges are under a winter weather advisory, with 6–12 inches of snow expected by Sunday morning.

For the high plains, including Cheyenne and the Nebraska Panhandle, snowfall will intensify this evening, with 2–5 inches possible. Some areas along the Nebraska–Wyoming border, such as Scottsbluff and Alliance, could see locally heavier snowfall rates. A winter weather advisory remains in effect for these areas through Sunday morning.

Sunday will bring lingering snow showers, mainly in the mountains, with clearing skies expected in the afternoon. Temperatures will drop sharply, with highs near 33 in Cheyenne and brisk northwest winds. Additional snowfall is expected early next week in the mountains, with the active weather pattern continuing through Friday.
