CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Wyoming’s capital city is expected to accumulate anywhere between 2 and 4 inches of snow later Monday.

The National Weather Service in Cheyenne issued a winter weather advisory early Monday morning that will kick in around 2 p.m. and last until 8 a.m. Tuesday. The advisory region includes Interstate 80 toward Laramie and I-25 toward Wheatland. Regions near the I-80 summit could see as much as half a foot of snow.

Temperatures will remain around freezing at 33 degrees Monday before dropping to 10 degrees overnight. They will remain below freezing Tuesday, peaking at around 24 degrees during the day, then plummeting to as low as 1 degree at night.

Once snow showers wrap up Tuesday morning, skies will gradually move from cloudy to mostly sunny. Sunny skies will persist through the remainder of the week, for the most part.

The highs and lows over the next several days are as follows:

  • Wednesday: High of 35, low of 16
  • Thursday: High of 30, low of 10
  • Friday: High of 39, low of 23
