CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Cheyenne and Laramie awoke to fresh snowfall Tuesday morning as a winter weather event continues to affect southeast Wyoming. A heavier band of snow moved through northern Laramie County and central Albany County overnight, delivering an additional 1–2 inches of snow to areas along the Interstate 80 corridor, according to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne.

Laramie reported higher-than-expected totals, with 3.4 inches recorded in town. As a result, the winter weather advisory has been extended for central Albany County, including Laramie, until 8 a.m. Another inch of snow is possible before precipitation diminishes. Roads remain slick, and drivers are urged to use caution.

Skies will gradually clear as the day progresses, but lingering low-level clouds and fog are expected to persist in lower valleys. Temperatures will remain low, with Cheyenne reaching a high near 23 degrees Tuesday afternoon under mostly sunny skies. Overnight, radiational cooling will lead to the coldest temperatures of the season so far, with lows near 4 degrees and windchill values between minus 10 and zero.

The weather will stay active through the week. Wednesday will bring a return of higher winds, with gusts of up to 40–50 mph possible along I-80 and I-25, though no high wind warnings are in place yet. Another cold front will arrive late Wednesday night, bringing additional snow and colder temperatures for Thursday.

The NWS in Cheyenne forecasts a high near freezing on Thursday, with orographic lift producing snow in the mountains and little to no accumulation in the lower elevations. Another system is expected Friday night into Saturday, bringing potential high winds and more widespread snow chances.
